As part of its growing U.S. brokerage operations, the business is looking to add an Import Compliance Specialist to its Charlotte, NC team.
Role Overview
This role is ideal for an experienced customs entry professional who enjoys taking ownership of their workload and working in a fast-moving environment. You’ll be responsible for managing the full import entry cycle — from document review and HTS classification to coordination with CBP and Partner Government Agencies — ensuring shipments are cleared accurately and efficiently.
You’ll have the autonomy to manage your entries independently while being supported by a collaborative, experienced brokerage team.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and submit air and ocean import entries in compliance with CBP regulations.
- Review commercial documents and ensure accurate HTSUS classification.
- Monitor regulatory requirements and ensure adherence to all applicable government rules.
- Communicate with clients, carriers, and government agencies to resolve questions or delays.
- Maintain complete and accurate records within the brokerage system.
- Coordinate internally to support timely post-clearance cargo movement.
- Identify and address documentation discrepancies or potential compliance risks proactively.
Candidate Requirements
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in customs entry writing within a brokerage or freight forwarding environment.
- Solid understanding of HTS classification, ACE processes, and CBP regulations.
- Ability to manage multiple deadlines and entries with minimal supervision.
- Strong organizational skills and exceptional attention to detail.
- Clear and professional written and verbal communication skills.
- Licensed Customs Broker preferred, but not required.
