What You'll Own

• Own the full project lifecycle — from pre-construction planning through final closeout — across earthwork, site grading, demolition, road construction, underground utilities, and earth retention scopes
• Build and maintain project schedules, keeping field crews, subcontractors, and owners aligned on milestones and deadlines
• Drive project financials: manage budgets, control costs, review pay applications, and flag variances before they compound
• Serve as the primary point of contact for owners, general contractors, municipalities, and utility authorities — building the kind of trust that generates repeat work
• Coordinate permitting, plan reviews, utility locates, and agency submittals to keep projects moving without delays
• Partner closely with field superintendents to sequence work, allocate equipment, and solve on-site challenges before they impact the schedule
• Contribute to preconstruction takeoffs and estimating, bringing field reality into bid strategy
• Champion a zero-incident safety culture — not as a policy requirement, but as a personal standard
• Prepare project status reports, meeting minutes, and documentation for both internal leadership and external stakeholders
  
  

Requirements

• Hands-on experience managing heavy civil, earthwork, grading, or site construction projects — you understand the dirt side of this business, not just the paperwork
• A track record of delivering projects on schedule and within budget, with the lessons learned to prove it
• The ability to read and interpret civil engineering plans, specifications, and survey data
• Proficiency with construction management and scheduling software (experience with Procore, P6, or equivalent is a plus)
• Strong communication skills — equally comfortable in an owner meeting and on a jobsite with the crew
• A degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field is preferred; equivalent hands-on experience will be considered
• Familiarity with MnDOT, municipal, or airport construction processes is a plus
