We're working on behalf of a well-established, self-perform heavy civil contractor in Central Florida that is expanding its leadership team.
This is a newly created VP of Operations role focused on leading and scaling regional construction operations across multiple active projects. The company has a strong backlog and needs a hands-on operations leader who can bring structure, accountability, and consistency across the business.
What You'll Own
15 years of experience in heavy civil construction (underground utilities, site development, roadway)
Proven experience overseeing multiple projects simultaneously across a region
Prior experience as:
Background in a self-perform contractor environment (crew equipment driven)
Strong understanding of:
Familiarity with Florida or Southeast construction markets strongly preferred

- Oversee multiple concurrent heavy civil projects across a defined region
- Lead and manage Project Managers, Superintendents, and field teams
- Drive schedule, cost control, and production performance across all jobs
- Own regional P&L, forecasting, and cost-to-complete
- Allocate labor, equipment, and subcontractor resources across projects
- Ensure compliance with local municipalities, counties, and DOT requirements
- Identify operational gaps and implement processes, systems, and reporting improvements
- Act as the escalation point for field and project-level challenges
15 years of experience in heavy civil construction (underground utilities, site development, roadway)

Prior experience as:
- VP Operations
- Director of Operations
- Regional Operations Manager
- OR Senior PM overseeing multiple teams/projects
Background in a self-perform contractor environment (crew equipment driven)

- Production tracking
- Equipment utilization
- Field-driven execution
Familiarity with Florida or Southeast construction markets strongly preferred
What This Role Is Not
- Not a single-project leadership role
- Not an engineering or consulting position
- Not an EPC / pipeline / energy-focused role
