We are looking for an Assistant Project Manager to support commercial HVAC and mechanical construction projects in a hands-on subcontractor environment with growing ownership of execution. This role focuses on supporting HVAC installations, piping systems, and field coordination while learning to manage projects from kickoff through closeout. The position is ideal for a junior-level professional or Project Engineer ready to step into a project management track within a fast-paced, smaller contractor setting. This role plays a key part in supporting active projects and building future project leadership capacity.

Responsibilities
- Support the execution of commercial HVAC and mechanical projects from preconstruction through closeout
- Assist with coordinating field crews, subcontractors, and internal teams across active job sites
- Help track project schedules, costs, and progress while escalating issues as needed
- Read and interpret mechanical drawings, specifications, and construction documents
- Assist with RFIs, submittals, change orders, and project documentation
- Coordinate with vendors and support procurement of materials and equipment
- Communicate with clients, inspectors, and internal stakeholders to support project flow
- Participate in jobsite visits to monitor progress and support field operations
- 2-5 years of experience in commercial HVAC or mechanical construction (APM, Project Engineer, or similar role)
- Exposure to commercial HVAC systems (residential-only experience will not be considered)
- Background working for a mechanical contractor, HVAC subcontractor, or related environment
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and specifications
- Strong interest in growing into a full Project Manager role
- Basic understanding of project scheduling and cost tracking tools
- Must be comfortable working in a hands-on, small to mid-sized contractor environment
- Strong communication and organizational skills
