Tooling Technician - Injection Molding Manufacturing - Base Salary to 27.00/hour - Gardner, MA
- Our client is a plastic injection molding manufacturer supporting injection mold maintenance and production tooling operations. They are seeking a hands-on Tooling Technician to support mold maintenance, repair, and production tooling operations in a high production environment, on 1st shift.
- This role is approximately 70–80% hands-on mold maintenance and repair, with the remainder focused on coordination and documentation.
Responsibilities:
- Perform preventative maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting of plastic injection molds (multi-cavity, hot runner systems preferred)
- Disassemble, clean, inspect, and reassemble molds to production-ready condition
- Diagnose tooling issues impacting production and work cross-functionally with Production, Maintenance, and Quality teams
- Coordinate external vendor repairs and new tooling builds as needed
- Conduct mold trials and validation for new or repaired tooling
- Execute mold changes and support production floor tooling needs
- Maintain tooling records, last shot samples, and documentation in IQMS (ERP system)
- Generate work orders for mold repair and modifications
- Participate in on-call support for urgent tooling issues
Qualifications:
- Must have experience working with plastic injection molds in a production environment
- 3 years of experience in plastic injection mold maintenance and repair
- Experience working with high-cavitation molds and/or hot runner systems strongly preferred
- Strong understanding of injection molding processes in a high-volume production environment
- Hands-on experience with mold disassembly, cleaning, troubleshooting, and reassembly
- Experience with manual machining equipment (mill, lathe, grinder) preferred
- Familiarity with IQMS or similar ERP systems preferred
- Ability to troubleshoot and resolve tooling issues with minimal supervision
- Valid driver’s license required; forklift certification and DOT medical card preferred
Compensation:
- Base salary in the 21.00 - 27.00/hour range
- Overtime eligibility
