- WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Help residents with bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and incontinence care
- Assist with transfers, mobility, and positioning
- Give medication reminders and change linens
- Use gentle, dementia-friendly approaches to comfort and redirect
- Follow service plans and document the care you provide
- Communicate clearly with your team at every shift change
- Keep residents, coworkers, and visitors safe
- Support activities and daily routines
The Resident Assistant assists with activities of daily living, responds to emergency calls, supports dining and daily routines, observes and reports changes in resident condition, maintains required documentation, and communicates professionally with residents, family members, team members, and visitors. The ideal candidate is compassionate, dependable, service-oriented, and able to work collaboratively in a senior living environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist residents with activities of daily living, including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, positioning, transfers, mobility, and incontinence care.
- Prepare residents for meals, snacks, and activities, and provide support in the dining room, including serving meals and clearing tables.
- Respond promptly to resident emergency call systems and requests for assistance.
- Observe, document, and report changes in residents’ condition to the appropriate supervisor or designee.
- Communicate with residents, family members, team members, and visitors in a courteous and professional manner.
- Maintain required resident care documentation in accordance with state regulations and Allegro Living policies and procedures.
- Assist with resident transportation when required.
- Follow safety, sanitation, infection control, residents’ rights, confidentiality, and HIPAA requirements at all times.
- Assist with light cleaning, laundry, resident rooms, offices, and common areas as needed to support a safe and orderly environment.
- Attend meetings and in-service training sessions as required and in accordance with state guidelines.
- Support community standards by maintaining professional appearance, participating in training, and delivering courteous service that promotes positive resident and family experiences.
- Perform other related duties as assigned by the supervisor.
- Experience in a healthcare, hospitality, senior living, or service environment preferred.
- CNA certification preferred; Personal Care Assistant (PCA) certificate may be accepted. CNA certification may be required in some states.
- Must have and maintain CPR and First Aid certifications.
- Must meet applicable state certification and licensure requirements.
- General understanding of and concern for the needs of seniors.
- Experience or aptitude working with Alzheimer’s disease and memory-impaired residents preferred.
- Ability to work well with others and promote a team-oriented environment.
- Must be at least 18 years of age; state-specific guidelines may apply.
- Must pass required background screening, health screening, and drug-free workplace requirements.
- Must have reliable transportation and, where required, a valid driver’s license, an acceptable motor vehicle record, and insurability by the community’s automobile insurance carrier.
- You provide compassionate, respectful, and dependable support to residents each day.
- You notice changes in resident needs and communicate concerns promptly and professionally.
- You follow safety, infection control, residents’ rights, confidentiality, and documentation requirements carefully.
- You work well with nurses, supervisors, coworkers, residents, and family members.
- You remain calm, professional, and effective in a busy care environment.
- You take ownership of assigned responsibilities and help maintain a positive community experience.
