Preconstruction Manager
Charlotte, NC | Full-Time | $120,000–$135,000 Bonus & Benefits
A well-established, privately owned construction company in Charlotte is looking to add an experienced Preconstruction Manager to its growing team.
The company has been established for nearly 90 years and is currently in a growth phase, expanding into new markets and taking on increasingly challenging projects. They are known for taking on complex work and competing successfully against much larger national contractors.
The Role
You’ll be responsible for managing the preconstruction process from early project development through to GMP, working across both public and private projects.
Key responsibilities include:
- Managing preconstruction activities from early budgeting through GMP
- Developing estimates and preparing competitive bids
- Experience with CM-at-Risk/public work and procurement processes
- Taking projects to market and working with subcontractors and trade partners
- Developing budgets, estimates and cost plans
- Supporting value engineering and identifying cost-saving opportunities
- Working directly with owners, architects, consultants and project teams
- Presenting estimates and proposals clearly to clients
- Building strong relationships throughout the preconstruction process
- Helping develop winning strategies for competitive pursuits
- Working closely with the wider preconstruction and operations teams

- Strong experience in preconstruction and estimating
- Experience across both public and private construction
- Understanding of CM-at-Risk delivery and GMP development
- Strong technical estimating skills
- Excellent communication and presentation skills
- Confidence dealing directly with clients and stakeholders

- Ability to work collaboratively within a close-knit team
- Interest in learning and embracing new technology, including AI
