Responsibilities:
Draw high-quality blood samples from patients of all ages, including pediatric and geriatric populations, ensuring safety and comfort.
Prepare and label specimens correctly for laboratory testing, following established protocols to guarantee accuracy.
Communicate clearly with patients to explain procedures, establish trust, and put them at ease during sample collection.
Maintain detailed records of specimen collection, labeling, and tracking, ensuring compliance with confidentiality and quality standards.
Follow safety guidelines and maintain a professional, clean environment to promote patient safety and staff efficiency.
Collaborate with healthcare team members and supervisors to ensure smooth daily operations and timely specimen processing.
Demonstrate leadership qualities by focusing on process excellence, accuracy, and confidentiality in all tasks.
Required Skills:
Minimum of 6 months of phlebotomy experience, with a track record of error-free specimen collection.
Proficiency in drawing blood from pediatric and geriatric patients.
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to explain procedures and create a patient-centered experience.
Excellent organizational skills demonstrated through accurate recordkeeping and documentation.
Ability to work independently and efficiently in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
Keyboard and data entry experience necessary for specimen documentation and management.
Flexibility to work scheduled hours that may include weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed.
Nice to Have Skills:
Medical assistant or paramedic training.
Certification in phlebotomy (required in some states such as California, Nevada, and Washington).
Customer service experience in retail or service-oriented environments.
Preferred Education and Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Medical training or background in phlebotomy preferred.
One or more years of phlebotomy experience is highly desirable.
Other Requirements:
Availability for a schedule from 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday through Friday, with rotating Saturdays.
Must hold current phlebotomy certification if applicable.
Must be able to handle physical aspects of the role, including standing, walking, and handling specimens.
Able to maintain confidentiality and demonstrate professionalism in all interactions.
