What are the responsibilities and job description for the Investor - Associate position at Alexander Chapman?
About the Firm
A lower middle market private investment firm focused on B2B services and industrial-oriented businesses, including software-enabled services, industrial B2B platforms, and mission-critical service providers across the energy and broader industrial ecosystem. The firm invests in companies with stable, recurring or contract-driven revenue models and works closely with management teams to drive operational improvements, accelerate growth, and execute add-on acquisition strategies.
The approach is hands-on, with an emphasis on deep commercial diligence, value creation through execution, and scaling platform businesses in fragmented B2B markets.
About the Role – Associate
- Build and own full investment models (LBOs, operating cases, scenario and sensitivity analysis) across live B2B transactions
- Lead commercial and industry diligence workstreams, including market mapping, customer segmentation, competitive positioning, and pricing / retention analysis
- Support preparation of investment committee materials, clearly articulating thesis, risks, and key underwriting assumptions
- Work directly on deal execution, coordinating with management teams, advisors, and counterparties throughout diligence and closing
- Partner with portfolio companies to track KPIs, analyze performance drivers, and support value creation initiatives
- Assist with add-on acquisition strategy and execution, including sourcing targets and evaluating strategic fit within existing platforms
Candidate Profile
- 1–3 years of experience in investment banking, private equity, consulting, or transaction-oriented B2B/industrial roles
- Strong financial modeling skills with direct exposure to live deals or commercial diligence workstreams
- Demonstrated interest in B2B services, industrials, or software-enabled business models
- Comfortable working in a lean, high-responsibility environment with direct exposure to senior decision-making
- Able to operate in an execution-heavy, fast-paced investing environment
This role is not suitable for candidates without transaction or diligence experience, or those seeking a purely analytical or non-commercial support role.
