Job Title:                        Grounds & Campus Maintenance Worker

Reports To:                       Director of Site and Support Services
Employment Type:       Full-Time (12‑Month)

Position Overview
The Grounds Maintenance Specialist, reporting to the Director of Site and Support Services, is primarily responsible for the care, upkeep, and presentation of campus grounds and outdoor spaces. This role ensures that all fields, landscapes, and exterior areas are safe, functional, and visually appealing year-round, while also supporting general facilities needs as required.

Responsibilities

• Grounds Maintenance (Primary Focus):
  • Field preparation and striping for athletic events
  • Lawn care including mowing, trimming, edging, and seasonal treatments
  • Landscaping, planting, mulching, and general beautification of campus grounds
  • Snow removal and ice management during winter months
  • Maintenance of walkways, parking areas, and outdoor spaces
  • Operation and upkeep of grounds equipment (mowers, trimmers, blowers, etc.)
• Campus & Facilities Support:
  • Event setup and breakdown, including outdoor events
  • Moving equipment, furniture, and materials across campus
  • General building maintenance as needed (minor repairs, light carpentry, painting)
  • Participate in campus logistics and seasonal projects
• General Duties:
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of work areas and storage spaces
  • Assist team members with campus-wide initiatives as needed
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED
• Minimum 3–5 years of experience in groundskeeping, landscaping, or related field
• Clean and valid NYS driver’s license
• Ability to operate landscaping and grounds equipment safely
• Willingness to work flexible hours, including occasional nights and weekends
• Strong communication and teamwork skills

Job Type: Full-time, 12-month, Non-exempt (hourly)
Schedule: Monday–Friday, Day shift 7:00am–3:30pm

Working Environment & Physical Requirements

• Primarily outdoor work in varying weather conditions
• Frequent standing, walking, bending, and lifting
• Operation of grounds and maintenance equipment
• Regular movement across campus, both indoors and outdoors
• Frequent interaction with faculty, staff, and students
