Position Summary
The Upper School Business & Economics Teacher designs and delivers engaging, rigorous instruction in business, economics, and financial literacy. This position supports the school’s mission by fostering critical thinking, ethical decision-making, and real-world application while preparing students for college and responsible participation in a global economy.
Salary range $45,000-$58,000. Actual salary based on education and relevant experience
Essential Responsibilities
- Teach courses in Economics (both micro and macro), Business Fundamentals, Personal Finance, Entrepreneurship, and related electives, including AP courses
- Teach Secondary Mathematics courses, as needed
- Develop curriculum that aligns with the school’s educational philosophy and college-preparatory goals
- Create a supportive, inclusive, and intellectually challenging classroom environment
- Employ a variety of instructional strategies, including discussion-based learning, projects, simulations, and experiential learning
- Assess student learning and provide clear, constructive feedback
- Maintain accurate records of student progress and communicate regularly with students and families
- Collaborate with colleagues across disciplines to support interdisciplinary learning
- Participate actively in faculty meetings, professional development, and school initiatives
- Contribute to the life of the school through advising, club leadership, or other extracurricular involvement, including advising the student Business Chapter
- Model professionalism and uphold the school’s mission, values, and community standards
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Economics, Education, or a related field
- Strong content knowledge in economics, business principles, and financial literacy
- Excellent communication, organizational, and classroom management skills
- Commitment to student-centered teaching and continuous professional growth
Preferred Qualifications
- Teaching experience at the high school level, preferably in an independent school setting
- Master’s degree in Education or a related field
- Experience with curriculum design and innovative pedagogy
- Familiarity with discussion-based or inquiry-driven instruction

Schedule
• This is a 10-month position with summers off
• The typical workday is 7:45am – 4:15pm, with occasional assignments to special events
taking place after the core hours and on weekends
Working Environment & Physical Requirements
• Generally, the role is conducted in a classroom environment
• Most of the work is done sitting or standing
• Routinely move about inside the building and from building to building
• Frequent interaction with others speaking, listening, and typing
• Ability to operate office equipment including computers, printers, copiers, and the like
