Job Title: Learning Specialist
Reports To: Division Head
Employment Type: Full-Time (10Month)
Position Overview
The Learning Specialist provides academic support to students in one-on-one, small group and classroom settings.

Responsibilities

Provide educational support to students in individual and group settings.

Providing testing accommodations for students and communicate and coordinate with faculty members to ensure testing integrity.

Provide individual accommodations for students as needed per their learning plans.

Communicate effectively with parents and teachers regarding student progress.

Work closely with the department in the writing and reviewing of student learning plans.

Ensure all faculty members receive and internalize all learning plans for students in their classes.

Collaborate with faculty members to address the challenges students face and assist faculty members in implementing student learning plans and academic accommodations .

Participate in Student Wellness meetings.

Update outside provider list annually including neuropsychs, related service providers, and mental health providers.

Provide all the supports necessary ( coordination of data collection, scheduling and communication) to coordinate the ACSD process for students and families.

Update Learning Plan template in BlackBaud when necessary to include any new accommodations or diagnoses to be in the drop-down menu for the Learning Specialists to be able to create the Learning Plans. Overseen by the SSS Coordinator.

Review any new documentation/evaluations to determine if students still meet the criteria for the accommodations that we have in the Learning Plans and analyze the test scores to determine which accommodations students should have. Supported by the SSS Coordinator.

Follow up with parents after the CSE meetings to go over the Learning Plans and how we will support their children at school with the support of the SSS Coordinator and the Division Heads.

Conduct classroom observations on students of concerns/review Learning Specialist and Counselor observations/collect data from classroom teachers to drive action steps.

Maintain all digital records pertaining to student support.
Qualifications

Education: Bachelors Degree required, Masters preferred

Certification: New York State Special Education required

Salary : $45,000 - $60,000
