Position Summary
The Middle School Math Teacher plays a central role in shaping how students think about and engage with mathematics. Teaching core math courses, including Algebra, this position challenges students to reason deeply, solve problems creatively, and build confidence as mathematical thinkers. Through dynamic instruction and strong relationships, the teacher creates a classroom where curiosity is valued, effort is expected, and learning is active. The role is highly collaborative, contributing to curriculum development, student growth, and the vibrant academic culture of Albany Academy.
This position is focused on building strong conceptual understanding and a commitment to fostering curiosity, confidence, and critical thinking in mathematics. This teacher will be an active member of a collaborative faculty dedicated to academic excellence and the holistic development of students.
Salary Range $48,000 - $55,000/year. Actual salary will be determined based on education and relevant experience
Essential Duties
- Teach middle school mathematics courses, including Algebra, aligned with school curriculum and standards
- Design and deliver engaging, developmentally appropriate lessons that support diverse learning styles
- Use a variety of instructional strategies, assessments, and technologies to promote student understanding and growth
- Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of all learners, including students who need additional support or enrichment
- Assess student progress regularly and provide timely, meaningful feedback to students and families
- Foster a positive, respectful, and inclusive classroom environment
- Collaborate with colleagues in curriculum planning, vertical alignment, and professional learning
- Communicate effectively with parents/guardians regarding student progress and classroom expectations
- Participate in faculty meetings, professional development, and school events
- Uphold Albany Academy’s mission, values, and community standards
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Education, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred)
- Experience teaching middle school mathematics; experience teaching Algebra strongly preferred
- Demonstrated ability to engage and inspire middle school students
- Strong classroom management and organizational skills
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
- Commitment to continuous professional growth
- Willingness to contribute to the broader life of the school community

Schedule
• This is a 10-month position with summers off
• The typical workday is 7:45am – 4:15pm, with occasional assignments to special events
taking place after the core hours and on weekends
Working Environment & Physical Requirements
• Generally, the role is conducted in a classroom environment
• Most of the work is done sitting or standing
• Routinely move about inside the building and from building to building
• Frequent interaction with others speaking, listening, and typing
