What are the responsibilities and job description for the Mechanical Design Engineer position at Akkodis?
Akkodis is seeking a Mechanical Designer for a Contract-to-hire job with a client in Erie PA. Ideally looking for candidates with experience in heavy fabrication & structural design, who can work closely with shop-floor teams, support prototype builds, measurements, and packaging studies, and ensure design-to-build accuracy.
Rate Range: $40/hour to $45/hour; The rate may be negotiable based on experience, education, geographic location, and other factors.
Mechanical Designer Job Requirements:
Experience in mechanical design / heavy fabrication (2–3 years )
Ability to interpret 3D CAD models & validate against physical builds
Hands-on involvement with measurements, welds, assembly, and shop-floor support
Desired Qualifications:
Knowledge of welding, materials, tolerances, and manufacturing processes
Experience with UG NX / Teamcenter & basic FEA understanding
Strong documentation, problem-solving & cross-functional communication skills
