Akkodis is seeking a Mechanical Engineer for a 12-month Contract to Hire job with a client in Erie, PA (Onsite). Ideally, looking for applicants with a solid background in the Manufacturing industry is a must.
Rate Range: $30/hour to $40/hour; The rate may be negotiable based on experience, education, geographic location, and other factors.
Position Overview
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop platform/structural components using engineering principles.
- Support packaging studies, fit-up checks, and prototype builds.
- Interpret 3D CAD models (NX/UG) and validate against physical builds.
- Perform measurements, weld validation (size/type), and deviation analysis.
- Collaborate with shop technicians, assemblers, and cross-functional teams.
- Prepare engineering documentation, reports, and build observations.
- Identify risks/issues and support resolution during build and validation.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s/Master’s in Mechanical Engineering
- 2–3 years in mechanical design / heavy fabrication
- Experience with NX (UG) and Teamcenter
- Strong understanding of welding, materials, tolerances, and manufacturing processes
- Hands-on experience supporting shop floor/prototype builds
Preferred Skills
- Exposure to FEA / strength calculations (welded & bolted joints)
- Experience in locomotive, rail, automotive, or heavy equipment
