IT Systems Administrator/Network Engineer

Akkodis is seeking an IT Systems Administrator/Network Engineer job with a client in Rochester, NY. Must hold a Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field to be considered. Responsible for maintaining and enhancing core IT infrastructure, including network systems, servers, and cloud connectivity. Will collaborate closely with the IT Manager, SOC, and Help Desk to maintain up-time, enforce cybersecurity controls, and deliver responsive support to business operations.

Salary Range: $70/k to $85/k. The salary may be negotiable based on experience, education, geographic location, and other factors.

IT Systems Administrator/Network Engineer Responsibilities Include:

• Configure, monitor, and maintain firewalls, switches, and VPN connections.
• Administer and maintain Windows Server, VMware, and Active Directory environments.
• Ensure system and network security through least privilege, segmentation, and patching.
• Manage IP addressing, VLAN configurations, DNS, DHCP, and routing.
• Support implementation of network monitoring and automation tools.
• Maintain documentation of network topology, configurations, and standards.
• Implement and maintain scalable, secure, and stable IT system.
• Support Microsoft Group Policy management, OS deployment, and backup/recovery operations.
• Perform system validation, patching, and performance optimization.
• Coordinate with the IT Manager on system lifecycle, capacity, and security updates.
• Administer and maintain virtualization platforms.
• Create and maintain accurate system and network documentation.
• Participate in change management, business continuity, and disaster recovery planning.
• Provide second-level support for escalations from Help Desk technicians.
• Troubleshoot network, server, and workstation issues across multiple locations.
• Support software, IoT devices, and connectivity in warehouse/production environments.
• Provide mentorship to Tier I support staff.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
  
  

Desired Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field is required.
• Minimum Three years related experience
• Experience providing Tier II or Tier III technical support.
• Experience managing firewall and SD-WAN solutions.
• Experience with cloud technologies (Microsoft 365, AWS, or Azure).
• Microsoft or Cisco certifications preferred (e.g., MCSA, MCSE, Meraki CMNA, CCNA).
• Strong understanding of firewalls, switches, and VPN configurations.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Server, Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, and Group Policy.
• Knowledge of virtualization (specifically VMware ESXi) and backup solutions (Veeam or equivalent).
• Understanding of LAN/WAN architectures, VLANs, and QoS.
• Familiarity with scripting or automation.
• Participation in after-hours 24/7 on-call rotation. After hours and weekend work as required.
