Database Administrator

Akkodis is seeking a Database Administrator for a Contract with a client in Austin, TX/Sunnyvale, CA. The ideal candidate is skilled in designing and managing multi‑node sharded clusters and replica sets in secure, high‑availability environments.

Rate Range: $55/hour to $60/hour; The rate may be negotiable based on experience, education, geographic location, and other factors.

Database Administrator Job Responsibilities Include

• Design, install, and configure multi‑node MongoDB replica sets and sharded clusters on Linux platforms.
• Manage Ops Manager setup, including onboarding clusters, performing upgrades, and overseeing groups/projects.
• Implement and maintain security through X509/TLS authentication, SSL key configuration, and access control.
• Automate backup, restore, deployment, and monitoring workflows using Python and shell scripting.
• Perform data migration, cluster upgrades, performance tuning, and query optimization across large‑scale environments.
• Manage cluster operations such as adding/removing nodes, configuring shard keys, and ensuring balanced and efficient data distribution.
  
  

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• 6–8 years of hands‑on experience as a MongoDB DBA working with replica sets, sharded clusters, and secure enterprise environments.
• Strong expertise in MongoDB Ops Manager, including upgrades, cluster onboarding, and environment management.
• Proven ability to implement enterprise‑grade security using X509/TLS authentication and SSL configurations across MongoDB deployments.

Pay Details: $55.00 to $60.00 per hour
