Assistant Controller

Responsibilities:
• Assist the Property Controller in all aspects of hotel accounting and financial operations
• Support month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring timely and accurate reporting
• Prepare and post journal entries with a strong understanding of debits and credits
• Perform complex bank reconciliations across multiple accounts and clearing items
• Balance daily revenue and cash postings across multiple revenue streams (rooms, F&B, retail, etc.)
• Investigate and resolve discrepancies related to cash, credit cards, and daily revenue activity
• Reconcile general ledger accounts and balance sheet accounts to supporting schedules
• Maintain detailed account reconciliations and resolve outstanding items in a timely manner
• Ensure adherence to internal controls, accounting policies, and operational standards
• Assist with audits, ownership requests, and financial reporting requirements
• Utilize Excel for reconciliations, financial analysis, and reporting
• Perform other duties as assigned
Required Experience:
• Bachelor’s degree required
• 5 years of hotel accounting experience required
• Strong understanding of hotel accounting processes and daily revenue operations
• Experience with journal entries, reconciliations, and financial reporting
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, lookups, formulas)
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills
• Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Preferred Experience:
• Experience within a branded or large-scale hotel environment preferred
• Experience supporting a Property Controller or in a senior accounting role
• Familiarity with hotel PMS, POS, and accounting systems
