Chief Estimator

Responsibilities

• Lead, mentor, and develop the estimating team to ensure accurate, efficient, and timely bid preparation while supporting professional growth
• Establish, maintain, and enforce standardized estimating procedures, guidelines, and best practices
• Identify, track, and manage new bid opportunities across public and private advertisement platforms
• Review project plans, specifications, and contract documents to develop detailed and reliable cost estimates
• Prepare and oversee competitive bid proposals for transportation projects, balancing risk, profitability, and market conditions
• Analyze subcontractor and supplier pricing, negotiate costs, and ensure compliance with project requirements
• Collaborate with senior leadership to develop bid strategies, pricing approaches, and market positioning
• Monitor industry trends, material pricing, and labor rates to maintain accurate and current estimating models
• Identify potential risks related to scope, constructability, and pricing, and develop mitigation strategies
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations as well as internal company policies
• Work closely with project managers, engineers, and clients throughout the preconstruction phase
• Participate in pre?bid meetings, site visits, and client presentations as required
  
  

Required Qualifications/Experience

• Minimum of 10 years of experience in transportation project estimating, including at least 5 years in leadership or supervisory capacity
• Strong working knowledge of GDOT specifications, transportation construction practices, and applicable industry standards
• Proficient in estimating software such as AgTek and ProEstimate, along with the Microsoft Office Suite
• Demonstrated leadership, communication, and negotiation skills with the ability to collaborate across teams
• Proven ability to manage multiple bids simultaneously while meeting aggressive deadlines
