Headquarters Air Force, Secretary of the Air Force, Studies and Analysis (SAF/SA), Operations Division (SAF/SA), Pentagon, Washington, D.C.
Salary Range: $169,279 to 197,200 based on experience.

Qualification Requirements
- Must be a United States Citizen
- Must be able to obtain and maintain Top-Secret clearance with access to Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) with SAP eligibility.
- This position has been designated by the Air Force as a Testing Designated Position (TDP) under the Air Force Civilian Drug Demand Reduction Program. Employee must pass initial and periodic short notice drug testing.
- Knowledge of leadership and supervisory best practices with ability to lead and mentor technical teams in high-pressure, mission-critical environments to foster a culture of high performance and innovation, particularly in DevSecOps.
- Must possess a minimum of 10 years of progressive infrastructure management experience in complex, enterprise-level environments, preferably within the defense or intelligence community. At least 5 years experience managing infrastructure for analytical computing environments including HPC, AI/ML, and data science workloads. Minimum 7 years hands-on Linux systems administration experience. Minimum 5 years experience with Kubernetes and cloud-native technologies. Minimum 5 years experience designing and troubleshooting high-performance networks. Demonstrated proficiency in C programming with at least 3 years experience developing system-level software.
- Knowledge of DoW, NIST, and RMF IT security principles and protocols, including the implementation and continuous monitoring of security controls for sensitive systems.
- Expert communication skills and advanced ability to translate complex technical concepts for diverse audiences and interface effectively with stakeholders at all organizational levels.
- Knowledge mastery of agile methodologies, SecDevOps, enterprise architecture, virtualization technologies, and High-Performance Computing (HPC) operations, including enterprise infrastructure, cloud, and disaster recovery.
- Knowledge of proficiency in Infrastructure as Code (IaC) development and automation using languages such as C and Python.
- Knowledge of designing and managing AI/ML-ready infrastructure, including GPU-accelerated computing and high-throughput data pipelines.
- Skill in developing technical requirements and performance work statements for complex infrastructure and technology procurements.
- Ability to implement and manage automated CI/CD pipelines and GitOps workflows for infrastructure provisioning and deployment.
- Other significant facts pertaining to this position are:
- Position requires 24/7 on-call availability for critical infrastructure issues and may require work outside normal duty hours for maintenance windows.
- Strong preference for maintained relevant industry certifications such as agile certifications (CSM), PMP, or vendor-specific infrastructure certifications. Current Linux certification (RHCE, LPIC-3, or equivalent) highly preferred. Kubernetes certifications (CKA, CKAD, or CKS) highly desired. Network certifications for HPC environments (InfiniBand, RDMA) preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, or related technical field highly preferred; Master’s degree in a computational discipline highly desired. Academic or professional background in Operations Research, Data Science, or related analytical fields preferred.
- Must demonstrate current knowledge of federal acquisition regulations and understanding of government procurement processes, including proficiency with Other Transactional Authority (OTA) agreements for rapid prototyping and milestone-based acquisition strategies.
- Must have proven track record of executing technical infrastructure projects using modern DevOps practices, with demonstrated expertise in Infrastructure as Code development using functional programming languages, YAML configurations to deploy statically typed compiled languages including C software. Experience with GitOps workflows and CI/CD pipelines required. Proven ability to develop custom integration ”glue” software when commercial solutions are unavailable. Experience supporting OTA-based prototyping efforts for HPC and AI/ML infrastructure preferred.
- Must have experience supporting analytical computing environments, including familiarity with Operations Research tools (CPLEX, R, Pandas), Data Science frameworks (TensorFlow, PyTorch, Scikit-learn), and HPC environments for modeling & simulation.
- Expert Linux, Kubernetes, and network engineering skills required, including demonstrated ability to architect, implement, and troubleshoot complex Linux-based and cloud-native infrastructure at enterprise scale. Experience with Linux performance tuning for HPC workloads, Kubernetes optimization for large-scale deployments, and high-performance network design essential. Proficiency in C for troubleshooting performance-critical infrastructure components against compiled models.
