The Air Force Civilian Service (AFCS) is looking for a Powered Support Systems Mechanic (WG-5378-11) to work with the 50th Civil Engineering Squadron, at Schriever Space Force Base, CO. In this position, you will serve as the operator responsible for operating and maintaining power support systems. This includes managing high-voltage generators located in the Central Utility Plant (CUP), which currently has a total output of 19.15 megawatts. Additionally, will be responsible for operating and maintaining other generator support systems within Schriever Space Force Base Restricted Area.

Salary Range $31.71- 36.99 an hour based on Experience.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Performs operation and maintenance of a 25 MW power support system including mission essential back up power from seven (7) 2700 K.W. diesel electric generators, four (4) 900 K.W. diesel electric generators, two (2) 800 K.W. diesel electric generators and auxiliary equipment. Maintains one (1) diesel water pump supporting firefighting and backup emergency water requirements.
- Conducts daily preventive maintenance checks on equipment associated with the electrical power support system.
- Troubleshoots electrical power support systems such as electrical power plant and power distribution equipment.
- Performs Inspections and maintenance of diesel fuel storage tanks and their essential tasks.
- Utilizes safety practices and procedures following established safety rules and regulations and maintains a safe and clean work environment.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES (KSA’s)
- Knowledge of principles of (AC/DC) theory, solid state circuitry, and safety rules and regulations pertaining to powered support systems; and the operation of emergency generator power systems.
- Knowledge of safety regulations, practices, and procedures; environmental standards and requirements; and regulations, procedures, and policies related to records maintenance and documentation.
- Skill in reading, interpreting, and using wiring diagrams, schematic drawings, technical orders, technical publications, and similar guides.
Qualifications
- US Citizenship is required
- Skill in using hand and power tools, instruments, test equipment, and electrical meters to include special tools such as hydraulic knock-out tools, hammers, drills, valve spring compressors, and micrometers; and installing, operating, inspecting, maintaining, repairing, and modifying generators, automatic transfer switches, and uninterruptible power systems.
- Ability to apply shop procedures, policies, written and oral instructions, and directives sufficient to provide training to others.
- Knowledge of quality assurance practices and procedures to monitor contractor performed work.
