This position (960707) will be filled as an NH-801-03 which has a typical 2026 salary range of $89,508 - $138,370.
This position’s primary role is to be a Lead Engineer in the MMIII Guidance Sustainment Section, which includes providing technical oversight on the critical MMIII Guidance and Control engineering subsystems and work products.

This position’s primary role is to be a Lead Engineer in the MMIII Guidance Sustainment Section, which includes providing technical oversight on the critical MMIII Guidance and Control engineering subsystems and work products.
DUTIES:
- Serves as a non-supervisory engineering team leader, consultant and technical expert to subordinates, senior subject matter specialists and/or agency officials responsible for broad program operations.
- Performs multidisciplinary professional engineering work involving the application of mechanical, industrial, aerospace, and/or other engineering disciplines to determine the business and technical needs of customers in the acquisition, development, or sustainment of weapon systems, sub-systems, support systems, equipment items, or an equivalent product.
- Provides or arranges training for team members in technical engineering policies and practices to ensure sustained technical excellence.
- Presents technical and non-technical presentations to stakeholders and leadership, as well as reviews material and coaches junior engineers on technical presentations given at both the Guidance Branch and MMIII levels of engineering review boards.
- Reviews engineering workload for assigned areas of responsibility, directs technical evaluations, and leads reviews of technical documentation for MMIII Guidance, Control engineering components, and Test Stands.
- Actively uses Systems Engineering principles and processes in support of multiple sustainment and development efforts.
- Ability to communicate clearly, concisely, and with technical accuracy, both orally and in writing, as well as work in a professional manner with peers, management, contractors, academia, and other agencies.
- Five or more years of relevant engineering experience is required to successfully perform as a Lead Engineer.
- Experience in electrical/electronics engineering, mechanical/materials engineering, aerospace engineering or systems engineering
- Strong technical skills in engineering sufficient to identify technical gaps and deficiencies in contractor deliverables.
- Experience to include requirement definition, design reviews, testing, test plans and test reports reviewing drawings and analysis, planning validation and verification events is highly valued.
- Experience in weapon system guidance, navigation, and control is highly desirable.
- Experience with the MMIII ICBM is preferred.
- Skill in leading, training, and mentoring personnel is highly valued.
- Experience with life cycle sustainment of a product/system as well as acquisition, design, and development with complex engineering and management challenges is highly valued.
- Candidates should have strong leadership and communication skills.
- Employee must be able to obtain and maintain a Top-Secret security clearance and will be required to handle and safeguard sensitive and/or classified information in accordance with regulations to reduce potential compromise.
