In this position you will serve as the Cybersecurity Information Systems Security Manager (ISSM) and subject matter expert. The IT Specialist (Network/Information Security) serves as a key technical and cybersecurity authority supporting enterprise data center and hybrid multi-cloud operations. This position is responsible for ensuring secure, resilient, and compliant network architectures while maintaining continuous authorization under the Risk-based Management Framework (RMF). The incumbent operates in a high-visibility, inspection-driven environment and must ensure systems meet all Department of War cybersecurity, compliance and operational requirements.
Requirements
Depending on the type of position (competitive/excepted) you are selected for, you will be required to serve a 1-year probationary period OR 2-year trial period. Upon completion of your probationary/trial period, your employment will be terminated unless you receive certification, in writing, that your continued employment advances the public interest.

Requirements

- Obtain & maintain a Security clearance
- The employee may be required to travel on military and commercial aircraft to perform temporary duty
- This position may require work to be performed during hours outside the normal duty schedule.
- Cyberspace qualification is a condition of employment. This position includes cyberspace work as a paramount duty requirement. DoDM 8140.03, para 4.2.a.(2) requires foundational qualification requirements within 9 months of assignment to a cyberspace work role and residential qualification requirements within 12 months of assignment to a cyberspace work role. An extension waiver of up to six-months may be granted per DoDM 8140.03. Failure to maintain the proper foundational and residential qualifications may result in removal from this position.
- 1. Knowledge of Risk Management Framework (RMF) processes, including Authorization to Operate (ATO) life cycle management, continuous monitoring, Plan of Action and Milestone (POA&M) development, and control implementation aligned to NIST SP 800-53.
- 2. Knowledge of secure network architecture principles, including defense-in-depth, segmentation, zero trust, and implementation using technologies such as Cisco and F5.
- 3. Knowledge of incident response and defensive cybersecurity operations, including threat detection, analysis, and response methodologies aligned to MITRE ATT&CK.
- 4. Knowledge of automation, scripting, and Infrastructure as Code (IAC) practices to support scalable, repeatable, and secure network and system operations.
- 5. Knowledge of cybersecurity policies, Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) Security Technical Implementation Guide (STIG) and Security Requirement Guide (SRG) compliance requirements, and inspection readiness standards in accordance with DISA guidance.
