Major Duties: The primary purpose of this position is to serve as the installation Integrated Prevention Chief and program manager, providing planning, directing, organizing, and exercising control over nonsupervisory employees assigned to the Integrated Resilience Office at an Air Force/Space Force installation. The Integrated Prevention Chief leads the development, implementation and evaluation of all prevention and resilience efforts. Serves as the key subject matter expert ensuring all installation prevention partners, leadership, and the community understands risk and protective factors associated with self-directed harm and prohibited abusive or harmful acts from a public health perspective. This position is responsible for overseeing consistent and reliable information to inform strategies, policy, and program evaluation. Collaborates and integrates primary prevention efforts in areas such as sexual assault, family violence (incl. intimate partner violence and child abuse and neglect), workplace violence (incl. harassment, bullying and hazing), suicide, and alcohol abuse/misuse prevention. Represents integrated prevention with a variety of installation and functional area organizations. Establishes, develops, and maintains effective working relationships with installation and local community partners. Meets with key stakeholders and coordinating officials to assess customer satisfaction, explain organization policy and procedures, and resolve problems that arise. Ensures subordinates provide customer guidance and training. Participates in special projects and initiatives and performs special assignments. Identifies the need for special projects and initiates milestones and goals. Evaluates reports by analyzing facts and performing appropriate research and prepares detailed responses. Determines appropriate recommendations for unresolved or questionable problems and performs follow-up. Researches and determines or recommends appropriate actions or interpretation of issues that impact organization, installation, command, or agency. Manage all aspects of a complex integrated prevention program for the installation. Installation strategic advisor on holistic and integrated prevention; develops strategic plans for integrating prevention programs and initiatives to reduce risk, promote protective factors and enhance resiliency (i.e. Comprehensive Airman Fitness). Oversees and directs integrated prevention education and activities ensuring specific needs are addressed as determined by DAF, MAJCOM/Field Command, and installation leadership. Serves as Community Action Team Chair, coordinates the implementation and integration of all prevention and resilience activities at a local level through the Community Action Board (CAB)/Community Action Team (CAT). Briefs Commanders and senior installation personnel on integrated prevention issues to obtain optimum support for program activities. Serves as Suicide Prevention Program Manager, managing all non-clinical, primary prevention aspects of the installation Suicide Prevention Program. Utilizes effective presentation and facilitation skills, providing accurate and appropriate technical assistance tailored to specific audiences, and communicating the complexities of integrated prevention issues to stakeholders and the public. Directs formal assessments and evaluation processes to monitor prevention efforts through evaluation of activities. Leads efforts to identify cross-cutting risk and protective factors to determine which research-based and evidence-informed prevention activities best meet unique needs of the installation populace (and any at-risk subgroups). Briefs decision makers on recommendations to discontinue or adjust activities that are not yielding sufficient outcomes. Ensures development and execution of annual and biennial requirements, including the installation Comprehensive Integrated Prevention Plan (CIPP). Accomplishes professional development and maintains technical proficiency through professional interaction with technical and professional societies, associations, academia, symposia, contractors, research and development (R&D) organizations, and participation in formal training programs. Keeps current on emerging analytical techniques and research methods through independent study and reading/reviewing technical journals and current literature. Maintains current knowledge and understanding of research-based primary prevention strategies and programs. Attends specific prevention program training to ensure proper implementation and evaluation of the program being executed. Completes and maintains required credentialing and continuing education as outlined for the prevention workforce (i.e. DoD SPARX Prevention Training). Serves as focal point for resource allocation and control; maintains effective liaison with DAF program monitors and installation or organization Resource Manager to ensure accurate and efficient budget execution. Provides vision for long-range planning efforts, ensuring adherence to requirements and budgeting processes to meet command and installation goals and objectives. Delivers presentations on program status, accomplishments, problems, requirements for support, and promotion of program objectives to senior military leaders and civilians in other partner programs.
