QUALIFICATIONS
- US Citizenship is required
- May be required to possess a valid operator’s license in order to drive a motor vehicle to and from work sites.
- Position requires the ability to discern colors, contrast, and depth.
- Shift work and emergency overtime may be required.
- This position has been designated by the Air Force as a Testing Designated Position (TDP) under the Air Force Civilian Drug Demand Reduction Program. Employee must pass initial and periodic short notice drug testing.
- Makes repairs from work stands and other hard-to-reach places. Must stand, stoop, bend, kneel, climb, stretch, and work in tiring and uncomfortable positions. Frequently lifts parts and equipment that weigh up to 20 pounds. Occasionally lifts items that weigh over 40 pounds with assistance from other workers.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Installs, repairs or replaces, modifies, loads, and performs preventative maintenance on new and existing alarm circuits, systems, fixtures, devices, panels, related switches, breakers, and controls located in and near installation buildings and structures.
- Provides quality civil engineering services in the operations, maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, replacement, modifications, and installation of all fire alarm systems, transmitters, and associated equipment supporting the needs of the joint installation missions at JBAB.
- Troubleshoots problem areas and inspects for defective equipment and faulty wiring. Works from building plans, blueprints, wiring diagrams, engineering drawings, and maintenance and repair manuals to determine the necessary and proper repairs and/or replacements.
- Uses a wide variety of test equipment including but not limited to: test lamps, multimeters, circuit analyzers, initiating device testers, circuit breaker testers, voltage recording meters, watt meters, ohmmeters, and ammeters.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES (KSA’s)
- Knowledge of electrical and electronic theory and instruments used in shop and trade practices, and of electrical equipment, i.e., test lamps, multimeters, circuit analyzers, initiating device testers, circuit breaker testers, voltage recording meters, watt meters, ohmmeters, and ammeters.
- Knowledge of the various gauges, sizes, and types of wire, conduit, coupling, fittings, relays, boxes, circuit breakers, and other electrical devices, and ability to arrange and install them in ways that insure safe and proper operation of electrical systems and equipment.
- Ability to interpret and apply blueprints, schematics, wiring diagrams, engineering drawings, technical manuals, National Electrical Code, National Fire codes, local codes, and to use trade formulas to calculate common properties.
