After-School Coding Instructor (Grades K–8)
Part-Time | Contract
$30–$37/hour
Location: Oakland, CA
Position Summary: We are seeking a passionate and dependable Coding Instructor to lead engaging after-school coding sessions for elementary and middle school students. This flexible, part-time role involves teaching 1–2 hours per week and focuses on introducing students to the fundamentals of programming through hands-on, age-appropriate activities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver interactive and beginner-friendly coding lessons aligned with student skill levels.
- Guide students through coding projects that build digital literacy and problem-solving skills.
- Foster a positive, inclusive classroom environment that supports creativity and collaboration.
- Maintain regular communication with the program coordinator regarding progress, updates, and supply needs.
- Prepare and submit lesson plans in advance.
- Ensure proper use and care of all devices, software, and instructional materials.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience teaching coding or computer science to children in a classroom or camp setting.
- Strong classroom management and communication skills.
- A genuine passion for technology and inspiring young minds.
- Reliable, punctual, and committed to the full program schedule.
- Degree or coursework in Education, Computer Science, or a related field is a plus but not required.
Schedule & Compensation:
- Schedule: Fall After-School Classes
- Hours: 1–2 hours per week
- Pay: $30–$37 per hour (commensurate with experience)
