Position Summary:
The Aviation Hydraulic Repair & Overhaul Specialist is responsible for inspecting, troubleshooting, repairing, testing, and overhauling a wide range of aircraft hydraulic components and systems in accordance with FAA, EASA, and company standards. This position requires precision, attention to detail, and a strong understanding of hydraulic systems used in both commercial and military aviation applications.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform disassembly, cleaning, inspection, and reassembly of aircraft hydraulic components (actuators, pumps, valves, servos, accumulators, etc.)
- Troubleshoot and diagnose hydraulic component malfunctions using test stands, gauges, and specialized diagnostic equipment
- Conduct functional and pressure testing to ensure compliance with manufacturer specifications and airworthiness standards
- Interpret technical manuals, component maintenance manuals (CMMs), engineering drawings, and service bulletins
- Maintain accurate repair documentation, work orders, and inspection records in accordance with FAA Part 145 repair station requirements
- Ensure all work is performed in accordance with safety, quality, and regulatory compliance procedures
- Identify and recommend process improvements for efficiency, quality, and cost reduction
- Collaborate with Quality Assurance and Engineering teams on technical issues or non-conformances
- Operate hydraulic test stands and related shop equipment safely and effectively
- Maintain a clean, organized, and tool-controlled work environment
Qualifications:
Required
- High school diploma or GED
- 3 years of experience in aircraft hydraulic component repair or overhaul (civil or military aviation)
- Strong mechanical aptitude and understanding of hydraulic systems, schematics, and pressure testing principles
- Ability to read and interpret technical documentation (CMMs, IPCs, blueprints, and service manuals)
- Familiarity with FAA regulations and Part 145 Repair Station procedures
- Proficient with standard and precision measuring instruments (micrometers, calipers, pressure gauges, etc.)
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
Preferred
- FAA Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) Certificate or equivalent training
- Prior experience with hydraulic test stands and flow bench operation
- Knowledge of electro-hydraulic systems and servo valve repair
- Experience working under ISO 9001 / AS9110 / AS9100 quality systems
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods
- Manual dexterity for small parts assembly and precision work
- Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) as required
