Manufacturing Technician I/II – Space Hardware Assembly (1st Shift)

Pay Rate: $32.00–$40.00/hour (Based on Experience)

Position Overview
Join an innovative manufacturing team supporting the production of advanced spaceflight hardware for NASA, government agencies, and commercial aerospace customers. This role offers the opportunity to assemble precision space hardware, support advanced manufacturing processes, and help develop innovative manufacturing solutions that improve production capabilities.
You will gain hands-on experience operating advanced manufacturing and metrology equipment while collaborating closely with Design Engineering to provide Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA) feedback. This is an excellent opportunity for experienced manufacturing professionals looking to contribute directly to cutting-edge space missions.
Please Note: This position is not a fit for candidates whose experience is primarily in medical device or pharmaceutical manufacturing. The work involves metals, machining, aerospace components, and precision mechanical assemblies.
Responsibilities
- Process incoming flight hardware for manufacturing.
- Perform precision cleaning, bagging, and tagging of components.
- Conduct first article inspections and random sample inspections.
- Assemble spaceflight hardware at both the subcomponent and top-level assembly stages.
- Perform manufacturing acceptance testing, including:
- Visual inspections
- Dimensional measurements
- Electrical continuity checks
- Leak testing
- Operate and maintain advanced manufacturing equipment, including:
- Heat-treating furnaces
- X-ray inspection equipment
- Induction brazing equipment
- Electron beam welding machines
- Mineral insulated cable swaging machines
- MIG/TIG welders
- Orbital welders
- Optical microscopes
- 3D profilers
- Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM)
- Provide Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA) feedback to the Engineering team.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives throughout manufacturing operations.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of manufacturing or mechanical assembly experience in one or more of the following industries:
- Aerospace
- Automotive
- Electronics Manufacturing
- Precision Metal Manufacturing
- Experience assembling precision mechanical or electromechanical products.
- Ability to read and follow manufacturing documentation and work instructions.
- Comfortable working with precision measurement tools and manufacturing equipment.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience using manufacturing tools such as:
- Torque wrenches
- Crimping tools
- Multimeters
- Pressure gauges
- Calipers
- Familiarity with CAD software.
- Experience working with manufacturing job routers.
- Experience operating or working around high-voltage or high-energy manufacturing equipment.
- Experience with inspection equipment, CMMs, or metrology tools is a plus.
