Position Value Proposition The Warehouse Material Handler Supervisor will oversee daily warehouse operations with a strong focus on roofing, HVAC, and solar materials. This role ensures efficient material handling, accurate inventory control, and timely support to field operations while maintaining a safe and organized warehouse environment. Position Summary The Warehouse Material Handler Supervisor is responsible for leading warehouse activities, including receiving, staging, and dispatching materials. The supervisor oversees and train material handler based on need of the warehouse, ensuring compliance with safety protocols, equipment operation, and inventory procedures. This role includes maintaining accurate digital and physical inventory, supervising loading/unloading, and ensuring timely delivery/pickup of materials to and from job sites. The supervisor also enforces warehouse organization and OSHA compliance, while proactively monitoring expiration-sensitive materials and communicating usage priorities. - Prevent equipment and machinery downtime by monitoring inspections and reporting repairs.
Job Responsibilities Administrative Tasks - Ensure that all warehouse forms and documents are completed accurately.
- Enforce all company procedures and processes.
- The supervisor oversees and train material handler based need of the warehouse on safety protocols, and equipment use.
- Lead daily warehouse huddles to review schedules, safety, and workflow.
- Assist in developing training curriculums for Material Handlers.
- Complete safety incident reports when required.
Inventory Management - Conduct and oversee inventory cycle counts, audits, and reconciliation processes.
- Ensure digital warehouse management system entries are accurate; perform random audits.
- Maintain accurate records of incoming and outgoing materials, tools, and equipment.
- Track and manage expiration-sensitive materials; communicate usage priorities to management.
- Ensure materials are allocated to proper staging areas and stored with correct labeling.
- Prevent shortages by monitoring inventory levels and communicating replenishment needs.
Order Processing - Assign pick lists to staff, ensuring pick list SOPs are followed.
- Conduct random audit checks to validate accuracy of pick lists.
- Communicate with Construction Foremen/Managers regarding pick list concerns.
- Supervise the safe and accurate loading and unloading of trucks.
- Ensure materials are properly secured and transported safely.
- Coordinate with Fleet & Equipment team to ensure equipment rotation availability.
- Report material defects; do not load expired or unsafe materials.
Receiving Goods - Ensure Receiving SOPs are followed consistently by staff.
- Audit receiving procedures and confirm accuracy of incoming receiving logs.
- Verify proper PPE and tools are used during receiving operations.
- Inspect incoming materials and equipment and stage in designated areas.
- Report any equipment repair needs to the Fleet & Equipment team.
Material Handling & Delivery - Oversee safe handling of roofing, HVAC, and solar materials.
- Operate and supervise use of forklifts, pallet jacks, and other warehouse equipment.
- Deliver and pick up materials from job sites as needed.
Maintenance and Housekeeping - Ensure that the warehouse and facility remain clean, organized, and OSHA-compliant.
- Review machinery inspection reports and coordinate repairs with Fleet & Equipment team.
- Report facility maintenance needs to management.
- Assign facility upkeep and routine maintenance tasks during downtime.
Safety and Compliance - Adhere to safety protocols and ensure compliance with OSHA, state, and federal regulations.
- Participate in safety training and meetings.
- Report unsafe conditions or incidents promptly to management.
- Conduct vehicle and equipment inspections and follow Tag-Out procedures.
- Ensure storage bins and staging areas are properly secured and safe for use.
- Verify that all warehouse staff complete required safety and operational training.
Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities Education - High school diploma or equivalent (Required).
- Technical training, certifications, or a college degree (Preferred).
Experience - Minimum 3 years of warehouse experience required.
- At least 1 year of supervisory or lead experience required.
- Experience handling roofing and HVAC materials Prefered.
- Previous construction industry (Roofing, HVAC, or Solar) experience preferred.
- Forklift certification preferred; must be able to operate warehouse equipment.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities - Strong leadership and supervisory skills with the ability to motivate a team.
- Ability to plan, organize, and ensure timely availability of materials.
- Expertise in warehouse procedures, safety standards, and best practices.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and warehouse management systems.
- Ability to conduct accurate inventory counts and maintain 98% accuracy.
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record required.
- Must be able to lift 100IBS or more.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills; bilingual in English and Spanish strongly preferred.
- Strong work ethic, self-motivation, and ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
- Ability to pass a criminal background check and maintain a drug-free culture.
