Advanced Personnel Resources is seeking an experienced Product Engineer for a direct hire opportunity in High Point, NC. This role is ideal for someone with a strong background in product engineering, furniture manufacturing, and hands-on collaboration with production, design, operations, quality, and supply chain teams.
The Product Engineer will support the development, launch, and continuous improvement of high-end furniture products, with a focus on upholstered seating, occasional tables, and related furniture products. This position will help turn design concepts into manufacturable products while ensuring quality, cost, functionality, and production efficiency are all considered.
Position Type: Direct Hire
Pay: Around $80,000 annually, depending on experience
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM
Responsibilities
- Translate product design concepts into practical, manufacturable engineering solutions
- Create and maintain 3D models, technical drawings, product specifications, and Bills of Materials
- Review product designs for structure, durability, ergonomics, quality, cost, and manufacturability
- Specify and evaluate materials such as textiles, leather, foam, wood, metal, hardware, and related components
- Support new product introductions from concept through production launch
- Assist with prototypes, pilot builds, product testing, and production ramp-up
- Develop and maintain work instructions, assembly guides, and technical documentation
- Partner with manufacturing teams to improve processes, reduce waste, and improve product quality
- Maintain accurate product data and BOMs within ERP/MRP systems
- Investigate product issues, warranty concerns, and field feedback to determine root cause
- Support engineering changes, corrective actions, and continuous improvement projects
- Work with suppliers and internal teams on cost reduction, sourcing, and supply chain support
- Ensure products meet internal quality expectations and applicable industry standards
- Collaborate cross-functionally with design, production, purchasing, quality, and operations teams
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Product Design, or a related field preferred; equivalent experience may be considered
- 5 years of product engineering experience required
- Experience in commercial, high-end, or upholstered furniture manufacturing strongly preferred
- Experience with upholstered furniture construction and materials required
- Proficiency with CAD software such as SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or similar required
- Strong understanding of manufacturing processes involving wood, metal, foam, upholstery, and related materials
- Experience with ERP/MRP systems and BOM management required
- Strong problem-solving, analytical, and troubleshooting skills
- Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
