Product Engineer

Job Title:

This position is responsible for ensuring that product designs use high‑quality, cost‑effective materials, align with production capabilities, and support the company’s commitment to delivering top‑tier, durable bedding products.

The role also serves as a leader within the New Product Development (NPD) team, providing mentorship, training, and technical guidance to junior engineers.

Key responsibilities include:

• Applying technical expertise to develop product specifications and verifying that all designs meet customer requirements, stack‑up and design rules, EHS safety guidelines, and component and cover specifications, as well as overall design and aesthetic expectations.
• Ensuring full compliance with the NPD tollgate process, collaborating with cross‑functional partners at each stage, and presenting progress during tollgate reviews.
• Validating and defining all component and prototype specifications, and developing bills of materials including raw materials and time requirements.
• Partnering with Strategic Sourcing to evaluate raw material options and supplier resources.
• Conducting DFMEAs, component and prototype trials, durability and functionality testing, and EHS testing to confirm that products meet all requirements; identifying and resolving issues as necessary.
• Working with Marketing to develop product claims and support them through validation testing.
• Performing pilot tests to confirm that designs can be effectively manufactured, documenting results, and executing design reviews and product validations.
• Actively participating in technical development teams to ensure products meet key organizational metrics for performance, margin, and consumer/retailer satisfaction.
• Supporting new production processes and product launches to ensure products are manufactured according to design, safety, and quality standards.
• Assisting with NPD initiatives, maintaining communication with the NPD team and other relevant groups to support development and rollout efforts.
• Providing design and technical expertise as needed.
• Performing additional duties as required to support the overall strategy and success of product development initiatives and product launches

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of High Point, NC.

The pay range for this position is $71000.00 - $118000.00/yr.
