Payroll Specialist

Job Title: Payroll Specialist

Location (city, state): Warrenton, VA, Winchester, VA, or Sterling, VA

Compensation: $33.00–$40.00 per hour (Conversion salary: $70,000–$85,000)

Benefits: This position is eligible for medical, dental, vision, and 401(k).

Qualifications:

• 3 years of payroll processing experience.
• Experience processing union payroll.
• Experience working in the construction or project-based industry.
• Strong attention to detail, organization, and accuracy.
• Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.

Job Description:

• Process weekly and/or bi-weekly payroll for hourly and salaried employees.
• Ensure accurate calculation of wages, overtime, deductions, and benefits.
• Process union payroll in accordance with collective bargaining agreements.
• Calculate and track union dues, fringe benefits, and other required contributions.
• Maintain accurate payroll records and ensure data integrity.
• Support payroll for construction field employees, including job costing and labor allocations.
• Assist with certified payroll reporting and prevailing wage compliance when applicable.
• Utilize payroll systems to process payroll and generate reports.
• Assist with payroll audits, reconciliations, and year-end processing, including W-2 preparation.
• Respond to employee payroll inquiries and resolve payroll discrepancies.
• Ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local payroll regulations.

Preferred:

• Experience with UKG.
• Experience with Paylocity
