Senior Cost Accountant

About the Role
We are seeking a detail-oriented Senior Cost Accountant to serve as a key contributor to our accounting team's month-end close process, financial reporting, and standard cost accounting functions. This role will play a central part in maintaining the integrity of the general ledger, owning cost accounting for manufactured equipment, and strengthening the process and controls environment across the organization. This is a full-time, on-site position based in Oklahoma City. Candidates must currently reside in the Oklahoma City area or be willing to relocate.
Key Responsibilities
- Own and maintain standard cost accounting for manufactured products, including standard cost setting/updates, cost roll-ups, and variance analysis (material, labor, and overhead)
- Reconcile standard costs to actual costs and partner with operations and manufacturing teams to investigate and resolve variances
- Own inventory valuation and work-in-process accounting in a manufacturing environment
- Maintain accurate general ledger accounting for GAAP and internal reporting purposes, including preparation and input of journal entries
- Lead and participate in month-end close and reporting activities, ensuring timely and accurate financial results
- Perform detailed financial statement and account analysis, including balance sheet reconciliations
- Provide management with financial information by researching and analyzing accounts, preparing journal entries, and completing account reconciliations
- Assist with PBC requests and related footnote preparation for audit support
- Support the annual budgeting/forecasting process and budget-to-actual variance reporting
- Assist with annual financial, tax, vendor, and other audits
- Research technical accounting issues for conformity to GAAP and advise on accounting policy changes, adoption methodologies, practical expedients, and financial statement impact
- Drive continuous process and procedural improvements, including internal controls, within the accounting department
What You'll Need
- BS/BA/MS degree in Accounting or Finance required
- CPA or CPA candidate preferred
- Minimum of 3–5 years of progressive accounting experience, with a strong standard cost accounting background
- Demonstrated hands-on experience with standard cost accounting, including cost roll-ups, variance analysis, and inventory valuation, ideally within a manufacturing or industrial environment
- Public accounting (senior audit associate or higher) experience preferred
- Manufacturing, energy, industrial equipment, or field services industry experience preferred
- Must currently live in the Oklahoma City area or be willing to relocate; this is an in-office role, not remote or hybrid
Skills & Competencies
- Strong understanding of standard costing methodologies and manufacturing/operational cost flows
- Strong technical GAAP research and application skills
- Proven ability to gather and synthesize financial data with sound business analysis and advanced MS Excel skills
- Ability to interpret and clearly explain financial and accounting concepts to non-accounting stakeholders
- Experience with ERP systems preferred
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a collaborative team
Salary : $90,000 - $105,000
