The Entry-Level Civil Engineer (Project Engineer) supports customer projects within the lighting division by assisting with design coordination, drawing package preparation, submittals, revisions, and project documentation. This role works closely with senior engineers, project managers, and cross-functional teams to help ensure projects progress smoothly from design through approval and release to production.
The position supports outdoor lighting applications including sports lighting, transportation lighting, and other large outdoor lighting systems. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, and eager to learn while gaining hands-on exposure to engineering project workflows, customer coordination, and technical documentation. This role functions as a junior engineering project support position, providing technical and administrative assistance rather than owning full project responsibility. Training and mentorship are provided.
Duties
- Review customer-supplied drawings, specifications, standards, and input documents under guidance from senior engineers to understand basic project requirements
- Assist in preparing and updating submittal drawing packages based on project-specific requirements
- Support site lighting design and basic structural design tasks with training provided
- Help track project schedules to support timely submittals and release to production
- Maintain organized records of customer requirements, project documentation, and revisions
- Assist with gathering and clarifying missing information in coordination with sales, engineering, production, and quality teams
- Support responses to customer Requests for Information (RFIs) under supervision
- Participate in internal and customer meetings to observe, learn, and support project coordination
- Contribute to continuous improvement efforts by assisting with documentation accuracy and process consistency
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or Architectural Engineering is preferred
- Entry-level candidates or recent graduates encouraged to apply
- Interest in learning structural design of steel monopoles, lighting systems, and basic electrical concepts (training provided)
- Ability to read and interpret customer specifications and 2D drawings with guidance
- Experience or coursework using AutoCAD or comparable drafting software preferred
- Strong attention to detail, organization, and willingness to learn in a team environment
- Good communication skills and comfort working with cross-functional teams
Compensation Range & Benefits:
- Salary: $60,000 - $80,000
