What we’re looking for
Adams Supervisors are expected to support management and department functions to provide friendly service to our valuable customers, ensuring that each experience reflects the commitment to providing quality products that Adams is known for. For the Dei Supervisor this means assisting the department manager in overseeing the operations and workflow of the Deli Department with varying responsibilities to ensure that customers always have a superior experience.
Your Day-to-Day
- Provide excellent customer service by greeting customers, & assisting with any questions
- Support daily operations by delegating tasks, reviewing goals with management, and communicating assignments to the team.
- Oversee stock levels and product rotation to ensure freshness, proper labeling, and appealing displays throughout the department.
- Train and guide associates, ensuring tasks are completed properly and helping maintain smooth and efficient workflow.
- Manage deli cleanliness and closing procedures, ensuring all daily and weekly sanitation tasks are completed.
- Take catering orders, assist with sandwich preparation, & slice meats & cheeses to customer specifications.
- Follow all safety & food handling guidelines oin compliance with Department of Health regulations & company policies.
- Oversee daily operations of the Deli Department, delegating tasks to associates to support smooth workflows and excellent customer service
- Monitor inventory levels and place Deli Department orders with vendors to maintain proper stock
- Train and mentor new Deli Department associates by providing hands-on guidance, demonstrating proper techniques, sharing company policies, & fostering their professional growth to help them excel in their roles
- If assigned, participate in job interviews and/or disciplinary discussions
- Contribute and assist with the responsibilities of Deli Department associates and leads

- Knowledge on the different products offered within the department to help serve the customers and help co-workers
- Friendly and welcoming atmosphere for all customers within the deli department

- Ability to operate and train others on Adams’ point of sale systems
- Work collaboratively and communicate with a team of co-workers and managers
- Exhibit enthusiasm, positivity and/or knowledge about Adams’ products and quality
Working Conditions
- Must be at least 18 years old
- Ability to work varied hours/days to oversee department operations
- Ability to communicate and exchange information so others will understand
- Consistently move, adjust, and position items weighing up to 25 pounds
- Ability to remain in a stationary position for extended periods combined with frequent movement in a fast-paced environment
- Safely Operate deli slicers and other equipment necessary to operate the department
- Occasionally ascend/descend a stepstool, stepladder, and/or ladder
- Repeating motions that may include the wrists, hands and/or fingers for duration of shift
- Moving self in different positions to accomplish tasks in various environments including tight and confined spaces

The salary range for this position takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions – including skill sets, experience, training, certifications and other business needs. A reasonable estimate of the current range is: $18.50 - $25.90. At Adams, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their position, and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each situation.
