Job Title: Technical Writer and Project Coordinator

Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Technical Writer and Project Coordinator to support high-profile U.S. Navy weapon systems. The candidate must be a detail-oriented self-starter who can collaborate effectively with engineering teams, peers, leadership, and customers. This role involves delivering clear, concise, and accurate products in compliance with government and military standards. The position supports weapons systems development, technical assessments, and operational readiness through various deliverables such as SOPs, white papers, executive briefings, and contract deliverables. The candidate will also provide project management support across various programs.

Responsibilities

• Format, edit, and maintain technical documentation, ensuring compliance with required contractual, government, and military standards.
• Support configuration management and version control of documents.
• Assist with preparing deliverables for contract milestones and audits.
• Monitor and track progress of document development and approvals to align with planned timelines.
• Maintain document repositories and ensure accessibility for authorized personnel.
• Consistently produce professional and polished documents, maintaining high-quality standards.
• Support training and communication strategies to ensure smooth end-user transitions to new processes or systems.
• Support Technical Program Managers by tracking action items, updating status reports and schedules, scheduling and supporting meetings, and capturing and distributing meeting notes.

Essential Skills

• Bachelor’s degree in business, communications/English, engineering, or a related field.
• 4 years of experience as a technical writer supporting large programs, preferably for the Department of War or Navy.
• Experience supporting project teams of varying size and scope.
• Familiarity with engineering disciplines such as systems engineering.
• Exceptional attention to detail, especially in grammar and punctuation, with the ability to convey complicated topics simply.
• Highly proficient in editing and project tools as well as document repositories, including Adobe Acrobat, MS Office Suite, SharePoint, Confluence, and Jira.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• CAPM certification.
• CPTC certification.
• Knowledge of Navy documentation standards.
• Experience supporting Navy SSP Strategic Weapons System.

Work Environment

This position offers a hybrid work schedule with three days onsite, including two mandatory days onsite (Tuesday and Wednesday), and one flexible day. The role follows a 9/80 schedule, providing a balanced work-life environment.

This is a Contract position based out of Rockville, MD.

The pay range for this position is $42.00 - $55.00/hr.

This is a hybrid position in Rockville,MD.
