Job Description
We are seeking a skilled Quality Engineer to ensure compliance with Government contracts, customer purchase orders, and flow-down requirements. This role involves serving as a primary quality interface with DCMA, Government Source Inspectors, and customer quality representatives, as well as supporting Government source selection activities. The position requires interpreting Technical Data Packages (TDPs), engineering drawings, specifications, and work instructions to define quality requirements, inspection plans, and acceptance criteria.
Responsibilities
- Review and interpret Government contracts and customer purchase orders to ensure full quality, inspection, and documentation compliance.
- Serve as a primary quality interface with DCMA, Government Source Inspectors, and customer quality representatives.
- Support and participate in Government source selection activities, including supplier evaluations, quality reviews, and compliance assessments.
- Develop, review, and approve quality plans, inspection plans, and quality documentation aligned with contractual and engineering requirements.
- Collaborate with manufacturing and engineering teams to ensure work instructions, routings, and inspection steps accurately reflect contractual, engineering, and quality requirements.
- Lead the identification, documentation, root cause analysis, and corrective action of non-conformances tied to drawings, specifications, suppliers, or contract requirements.
- Support internal, customer, and Government audits, ensuring readiness, documentation accuracy, and effective closeout of findings.
- Ensure compliance with AS9100, customer-specific requirements, and internal quality management system procedures.
- Support supplier quality activities, including source inspection readiness, quality reviews, and issue resolution.
- Maintain accurate quality records and documentation in accordance with aerospace, customer, and Government requirements.
- Proficiency with inspection tools such as micrometers, calipers, height gauges, pin gauges, and roughometers.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, schematics, and GD&T.
- Experience with inspection documentation and reporting for receiving, in-process, and final inspections.
- Familiarity with AS9100 quality systems and aerospace quality standards.
- Strong ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and technical data packages.
- Experience working with Government contracts and associated quality, inspection, and compliance requirements.
- Direct experience interfacing with DCMA and Government Source Inspection (GSI) representatives.
- Aerospace or defense manufacturing experience.
- Prior Quality Engineer experience supporting DoD or Government programs.
- Experience working with customer quality portals (Net-Inspect or similar).
- Knowledge of GD&T and inspection methodologies.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing, or a related technical discipline (or equivalent experience).
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office for technical documentation, reporting, and audit support.
The Quality Engineer will work within the Quality department, which consists of a Quality Manager, Quality Supervisor, and one inspector. The role involves working on the manufacturing floor and spending time in an office setting. This position offers a stable workload supporting aerospace and high-precision manufacturing, with hands-on inspection responsibilities and exposure to the full inspection lifecycle. There is potential for conversion to full-time through a contract-to-hire model.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Los Angeles, CA.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $30.00 - $38.00/hr.
