Position Summary
TPT is seeking an experienced Quality Engineer to support the Quality department for the Valencia, CA manufacturing site. In this role, the Quality Engineer is responsible for ensuring precision‑machined aerospace materials, components and assemblies meet all customer and internal quality requirements. This role supports both new product development (NPD) and production environments, focusing on complex, tight‑tolerance machined parts used in critical aerospace applications such as flight controls, engine systems, and structural assemblies. This position will support the Quality department through development, planning and monitoring of quality systems and quality activities to achieve safety, quality, delivery and cost (SQDC) goals. The Quality Engineer reports to the Quality Manager and will directly support the Quality Management System, and the company’s mission, vision, and values.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure compliance with safety, 6S, AS9100, and customer quality requirements.
- Support production and NPD through quality planning, risk mitigation, and problem resolution.
- Lead nonconformance management, MRB activities, root cause analysis, and corrective/preventive actions using structured methodologies (8D, 5 Whys, Fishbone).
- Support and approve First Article Inspections (AS9102), PPAPs, PFMEAs, APQP activities, and process validations (IQ/OQ/PQ).
- Review engineering drawings, GD&T, manufacturing plans, and specifications for feasibility and compliance.
- Maintain and continuously improve the Quality Management System (QMS).
- Conduct internal audits and support customer, regulatory, and third‑party audits.
- Partner with suppliers to ensure material, certification, and documentation compliance.
- Analyze quality data, monitor performance metrics, and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
- Serve as the quality interface for internal teams, customers, and suppliers.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related technical discipline (or equivalent experience).
- 3 years in a manufacturing quality role.
- Experience with tight‑tolerance, complex CNC‑machined aerospace components.
- Working knowledge of ERP/MRP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, QAD, D365, Epicor).
- Strong understanding of aerospace quality standards and documentation (AS9100, AS9102, PFMEA, PPAP).
- Proficiency in blueprint reading, GD&T, SPC, and precision inspection tools.
Preferred Qualifications
- ASQ Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) or similar certification.
- AS9100, ISO, or NADCAP audit experience.
- Experience supporting aerospace programs (commercial, defense, or space).
- Background in a high‑mix, low‑volume machining environment.
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
- Split time between office and manufacturing floor.
- Hands‑on interaction with CNC machining and inspection areas.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 25 lbs.
- Occasional extended or flexible hours as required.
