Quality Engineer
Job Description
This role requires effective communication skills to engage with people at a cross-functional level. The successful candidate will be responsible for presenting information and responding to inquiries from managers, suppliers, customers, and the public both orally and in writing.
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain a supplier quality system that ensures a reliable supply base.
- Ensure compliance with procedures outlined in the Supplier Quality Manual, including ISO9001 and IATF16949.
- Lead supplier development activities and implement necessary changes.
- Participate in supplier reviews and provide input to the Purchasing Department regarding supplier quality.
- Perform supplier quality audits according to ISO9001, IATF16949, and VDA6 standards.
- Ensure reliability and accuracy of products from the supply base and timely disposition of nonconforming material.
- Coordinate with suppliers on initiatives related to supplier quality performance, track performance trends, and facilitate corrective actions.
- Utilize lean manufacturing, error proofing, and continuous improvement initiatives to develop robust processes ensuring zero defects.
- Provide support to customers regarding supply-based issues.
Essential Skills
- Thorough knowledge of quality tools and APQP methods such as FMEA, Control Plan, Measurement Equipment including MSA, and PPAP.
- Ability to read technical specifications and drawings.
- Effective problem-solving skills and the ability to implement continuous improvement techniques.
- Ability to facilitate and improve cross-functional communication.
- Proficiency in using business applications software and data analysis tools.
- Six Sigma Green/Black Belt Certification and ISO/IATF auditor certification.
- 2-5 years of related audit experience.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience in Plastic Molding and Assembly processes.
- Must have an Engineering degree.
- Experience in the automotive industry
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $45.00/hr.
