Job Description
The Quality Assurance Technician is responsible for monitoring and verifying food safety, quality control procedures, and regulatory compliance throughout the production process. This role plays a critical part in maintaining the company’s commitment to delivering premium artisan crackers by ensuring every batch of product meets or exceeds internal and external quality standards. The position is hands-on within a fast-paced food manufacturing environment and requires strong attention to detail, accurate documentation, and effective communication with production and leadership teams.
Responsibilities
- Perform and document routine quality checks on raw materials, in-process goods, and finished products to ensure they meet established specifications and quality standards.
- Monitor and enforce Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) protocols across the production floor.
- Conduct daily inspections of production lines, sanitation procedures, and packaging operations to verify compliance with food safety and quality requirements.
- Manage, maintain, and accurately complete quality assurance documentation, including Sanitation Standard Operating Procedures (SSOPs), checklists, moisture logs, and temperature records.
- Calibrate and operate quality assurance equipment such as moisture analyzers, thermometers, and scales to ensure accurate measurements.
- Assist with internal audits and support third-party inspections, including certifications such as Organic, Kosher, Non-GMO, and SQF.
- Support investigations of non-conformances, participate in determining root causes, and help implement corrective actions and product holds when necessary.
- Communicate quality and food safety issues promptly and clearly to production and management teams to facilitate timely resolution.
- Participate in training production staff on quality assurance protocols, food safety best practices, and proper documentation procedures.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to continuously improve quality processes and uphold high standards for artisan cracker products.
Essential Skills
- At least 6 months of experience in quality assurance or quality control, preferably within a food manufacturing environment.
- Hands-on experience or familiarity with food safety and quality control concepts, including basic understanding of GMPs and HACCP.
- Ability to accurately perform and document quality checks on raw materials, in-process products, and finished goods.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Microsoft Excel, for recording and analyzing quality data.
- Strong organizational and observational skills, with the ability to manage multiple quality tasks and documentation requirements.
- Comfort working in a fast-paced, hands-on production environment while maintaining high standards of accuracy and compliance.
- Ability to lift up to 40 lbs. and stand for extended periods during production and inspection activities.
- Detail-oriented mindset with a genuine passion for food quality and consistency.
- Clear and timely verbal and written communication skills to report quality issues and collaborate with production teams.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Previous experience in a food manufacturing or bakery QA/QC role is preferred.
- Familiarity with third-party certification standards such as Organic, Kosher, Non-GMO, and SQF is beneficial.
- Experience using quality assurance tools and equipment such as moisture analyzers, thermometers, and scales.
- Ability to learn and use digital quality assurance tools and systems for data entry and recordkeeping.
- Bilingual communication skills are preferred but not required.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to support non-conformance investigations and corrective actions.
- Enthusiasm for working with artisan food products and contributing to a high-quality brand reputation.
Work Environment
This role is based in a fast-paced food manufacturing facility focused on producing premium artisan crackers. The Quality Assurance Technician works primarily on the production floor and in packaging areas, performing inspections, collecting samples, and interacting closely with production staff. The environment requires standing and walking for extended periods, as well as lifting up to 40 lbs. on occasion. You will regularly use quality assurance tools and equipment such as moisture analyzers, thermometers, scales, and digital recordkeeping systems, along with Microsoft Excel for documentation and data analysis. The facility operates under strict Good Manufacturing Practices and HACCP protocols, with an emphasis on sanitation, food safety, and consistent product quality. Work attire typically includes appropriate production and safety clothing suitable for a food manufacturing setting, such as closed-toe shoes and any required protective gear provided on-site.

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $41600.00 - $49920.00/yr.
