Job Title: QC Lab Technician

Job Description

The QC Lab Technician plays a crucial role in ensuring the quality and safety of raw materials, production batches, and end products. This position involves conducting X-ray lab tests, daily QA checks, and adhering to plant safety guidelines while maintaining quality standards in manufacturing processes.

Responsibilities

• Conduct QC testing of raw materials, production batches, and end products.
• Run X-ray lab testing and perform daily QA checks for plant safety, process SOPs, and product quality.
• Promote and follow all plant safety guidelines and observe applicable safety policies and regulations.
• Comply with plant sampling schedules and collect representative samples for testing.
• Perform formulation and raw mill feeder adjustments to maintain quality targets.
• Analyze coal samples for fineness and moisture, and collect bag house dust samples for testing.
• Analyze bottom stage samples for loss on ignition and oxide analysis, determining percent calcination.
• Maintain accurate records of all testing performed and adjustments made.
• Check grinding aid and masonry additive flow rates at intervals set by the Quality Control Manager.
• Report problems observed in the plant and ensure proper functioning of samplers.
• Communicate test results to production personnel and issue process and production change orders.
• Assist in maintaining lab reagents and supplies, and perform non-routine testing for process control and research.
• Responsible for housekeeping and cleanup of work and sample areas.
• Document all tasks associated with job duties.

Essential Skills

• Proficiency in quality control and assurance processes.
• Experience in laboratory testing and SOPs.
• Ability to maintain high-quality standards.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Previous experience in Quality Assurance is a plus.

Work Environment

The work environment includes a QC laboratory and a processing plant with outdoor conditions that are non-climate controlled. The plant operates 24/7, and the QC team works on rotating shifts covering all hours. The schedule includes shifts such as working day shifts for 1-2 weeks followed by overnight shifts for 1-2 weeks, with a weekly schedule that runs 4-on/3-off/1-on/4-on/1-off.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $18.50 - $18.50/hr.
