The position focuses on hospitals, clinics, and other healthcare environments, ensuring designs meet functional, technical, and regulatory requirements while delivering high-quality outcomes for communities.

Responsibilities

  • Manage complete healthcare projects from schematic design through construction administration, ensuring quality, schedule, and scope alignment.
  • Produce detailed architectural drawings and documentation in Revit, or delegate and oversee production tasks to appropriate team members.
  • Lead coordination efforts with consultants, including MEP engineers, structural engineers, and medical planners, to ensure fully integrated project solutions.
  • Develop, manage, and maintain construction documents and project specifications with a high degree of accuracy and consistency.
  • Attend and lead client meetings and design reviews, clearly presenting design intent, options, and technical considerations.
  • Ensure all project work complies with FGI Guidelines, as well as applicable state and local healthcare codes and regulations.
  • Support construction administration activities, including reviewing and responding to submittals and RFIs, and conducting site visits as needed.
  • Monitor and maintain project quality standards, documentation accuracy, and adherence to project schedules and milestones.
  • Coordinate design and documentation for renovations, additions, and active-facility remodels within occupied healthcare environments.
  • Collaborate closely with internal teams, healthcare clients, and end users to align design solutions with clinical workflows and operational needs.
Essential Skills
  • Advanced proficiency in Revit for design, documentation, and coordination.
  • Demonstrated experience managing full project lifecycles from schematic design through construction administration.
  • Proven ability to develop and manage construction documents and technical specifications for healthcare projects.
  • Strong skills in leading and coordinating multidisciplinary consultant teams, including MEP and structural engineers and medical planners.
  • Effective client-facing communication skills, with the ability to lead meetings and present design concepts and technical information clearly.
  • Working knowledge of FGI Guidelines for healthcare facilities and relevant state and local healthcare codes.
  • Solid background in architectural design, project management, and construction drawings for hospitals, clinics, and other healthcare projects.
  • Experience reviewing submittals and RFIs and supporting construction administration processes in healthcare settings.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Experience delivering healthcare projects such as hospitals, clinics, and other medical facilities.
  • Hands-on experience with renovations, additions, and remodels in active, occupied healthcare environments.
  • Familiarity with project standards used by major healthcare systems such as Ascension and/or Francis Health.
  • Ability to collaborate with healthcare clients and end users to align design with clinical and operational needs.
  • Interest in long-term professional growth within healthcare architecture and in taking ownership of complex project work.
Work Environment

This role operates in a hybrid work model that combines office-based collaboration with periodic site visits to healthcare facilities. You will work in a collaborative studio environment that encourages teamwork, design dialogue, and shared problem-solving. The position involves direct interaction with healthcare clients, consultants, and end users, providing ongoing opportunities to understand real-world clinical needs and translate them into effective design solutions.
