Job Description

The primary role of a Phlebotomist II is to assist in executing various assigned duties, troubleshooting, training, and recommending workflow improvements.

Responsibilities

• Perform blood draws, label specimens, centrifuge specimens, record maintenance data, and decontaminate work areas.
• Collect and store specimens according to established procedures.
• Clearly and courteously explain the process of venipuncture, blood drawing, and other specimen collections as required.
• Demonstrate techniques using straight needles and butterfly needles.
• Understand and accurately execute physicians' orders.
• Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes.
• Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test orders.
• Verify all test requisitions or computer labels against scripts for accuracy.
• Package specimens for transport and store samples according to required temperatures.
• Adhere to OSHA and DEP regulations.
• Attend annual department trainings.
• Answer telephone calls and read laboratory results to address inquiries.

Essential Skills

• Minimum of 2 years of recent experience as a Phlebotomist.
• Proficiency in phlebotomy, blood draws, and venipuncture from geriatric to pediatric patients.
• Customer service skills.
• Experience with specimen collection and processing.
• Proficiency with straight needle venipuncture.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
• Minimum of 2 years of work experience in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting.
• 2-4 years of overall experience.

Work Environment

The role is based in Dacula, GA. The standard work schedule is Monday through Friday, 8 AM to 5 PM.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Dacula, GA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $22.00/hr.
