Job Description

As a Phlebotomist II, you will be responsible for performing blood draws, labeling specimens, centrifuging specimens, recording maintenance data and decontamination, updating patient information, and more. You will collect and store specimens according to established procedures, clearly and courteously explaining the venipuncture process and other specimen collections as required.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate techniques using straight needles and/or butterfly needles.
• Fully understand all of the physicians' orders.
• Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes.
• Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test order.
• Check all test requisitions or computer labels against script to ensure 100% accuracy.
• Package specimens for transport.
• Store specimen samples according to required temperature.
• Place samples in appropriate collection containers/tubes and accurately label them.
• Follow different procedures specific to protocol necessary for transport to maintain specimen integrity.
• Understand and comply with OSHA and DEP regulations.
• Attend annual department trainings.
• Answer telephone calls and read laboratory results to satisfy inquiries.

Essential Skills

• 2 years of phlebotomy experience
• Proficiency in blood draw and venipuncture
• Customer service experience
• Experience with 15 patient draws per day
• High School Diploma or GED

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Specimen processing experience

Work Environment

This position is located at an IOP Account in Hillandale, Lithonia, GA. The work schedule is as follows: Monday from 7:30am to 5:30pm with a 1-hour lunch break, Tuesday from 8:45am to 5:30pm with a 45-minute lunch break, Wednesday from 8:00am to 1:15pm with no lunch break, Thursday from 8:45am to 5:15pm with a 45-minute lunch break, Friday from 8:45am to 5:15pm with a 45-minute lunch break, and Saturday from 9:00am to 2:30pm with no lunch break. The total work week is 40 hours.

This is a Contract position based out of Lithonia, GA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $22.00/hr.
