Job Description
The Order Entry/Customer Service Pharmacy Technician plays a critical role in managing order entry and triage tasks within a pharmacy setting. This position requires handling incoming calls, liaising with LTC Facilities, pharmacists, nurses, and physicians, and managing drug orders received via various methods such as faxes. Additionally, the role involves answering medication-related inquiries, evaluating patient profiles for order placement, and resolving any order discrepancies.
Responsibilities
- Handle 15-30 incoming calls per day, directing them appropriately.
- Engage with LTC Facilities, pharmacists, nurses, and physicians.
- Manage drug orders received through faxes and other forms.
- Evaluate patient profiles and decide on order placements.
- Highlight pertinent information on documents for order processing.
- Enter medication orders at a rate of 40-45 per hour.
- Conduct follow-ups on new admissions to LTC facilities.
- Investigate and resolve order issues using the Automatic Dispensing Unit.
- Participate in document triaging and order transfers to retail pharmacies.
- Work collaboratively within a 12-member team, sharing responsibilities across phone and data entry tasks.
Essential Skills
- Registered pharmacy technician with the state of MN.
- At least 6 months of pharmacy experience in a retail or LTC setting.
- Experience with typing orders and knowledge of SIG codes.
- Proficiency in customer service and data entry.
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Eden Prairie, MN.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $21.00 - $24.00/hr.
