The Mechanical Engineer will be part of the Auxiliary System Engineering group, which supports various systems including nitrogen handling, valve sizing, and relief systems. This role involves working with vendors to review design packages, specifications, drawings, test plans, calculation reports, and quality classifications. The engineer will ensure that installed systems such as nitrogen handling, chemical reagent, nitrogen purge, radiological HVAC, and demineralized water systems meet design specifications. Responsibilities also include conducting facility walkdowns to identify and rectify discrepancies between installed systems and design specifications.
Responsibilities- Review and evaluate design packages, specifications, and drawings.
- Conduct hand calculations using Mathcad or Excel to ensure correct equipment and system sizing.
- Collaborate with vendors on design packages and quality classifications.
- Perform site walkdowns to inspect installed systems and verify compliance with design specifications.
- Implement design changes as necessary to align installations with specifications.
- Manage vendor oversight for procurement and document approvals.
- Design expertise in mechanical and engineering systems.
- Proficiency in CAD and design review processes.
- Experience with nitrogen gas handling, compressed oxygen, and nitrogen purge gas systems.
- Ability to conduct hand calculations for equipment sizing.
- Understanding of chemical systems, demineralized water systems, and HVAC systems.
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- 6 years of experience with hand calculations for equipment sizing.
- 6 years of vendor oversight experience for procurement and document approvals.
- 6 years of experience with site walkdowns and inspections.
- 6 years of experience with building HVAC systems, radiological HVAC systems, demineralized water systems, chemical reagent systems, and nitrogen handling systems.
Candidates are required to be onsite four days a week with the option for one remote day. They may also choose to work from the Fitchburg location.

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $76000.00 - $150000.00/yr.
