Role Overview
We are seeking a Mechanical Engineer II to join the Advanced Manufacturing Engineering team. This role supports the transition of robotics and electromechanical products from design into scalable production.
This is a hands‑on, early‑career role ideal for engineers who want exposure to New Product Introduction (NPI), supplier interaction, and real‑world manufacturing execution in a fast‑paced robotics environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Support Design‑for‑X (DFM/DFA/DFX) efforts to transition mechanical and electromechanical products from design into production
- Collaborate with mechanical, electrical, manufacturing, and supply chain teams to improve product manufacturability
- Assist with supplier development and qualification, including capability assessments and manufacturing readiness
- Support NPI activities, including early builds, production trials, and ramp‑up efforts
- Participate in failure analysis and root cause investigations related to manufacturing and supplier quality issues
- Help implement corrective actions to improve yield, quality, and scalability
- Support the development of manufacturing test solutions, fixtures, and validation processes
- Assist with engineering change management and product lifecycle updates in PLM systems
MUST HAVES:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related technical field
- Approximately 2–5 years of engineering experience (or equivalent applied industry experience)
- Experience applying DFM/DFA/DFX principles in a manufacturing or NPI setting
- Familiarity with manufacturing processes such as machining, injection molding, sheet metal fabrication, or electronics assembly
- Experience working directly with contract manufacturers and fabrication suppliers, including qualification, execution ownership, and ongoing relationship management.
- Experience interpreting engineering drawings and CAD models
- Basic understanding of quality concepts, including SPC, capability analysis, or continuous improvement
- Hands‑on experience troubleshooting mechanical (and basic electrical) issues
NICE TO HAVE SKILLS:
- Experience supporting New Product Introduction (NPI) from prototype through early production
- Familiarity with robotics, mechatronics, or electromechanical systems
- Exposure to failure analysis tools such as FMEA, 8D, or corrective action processes
- Experience working in global or multi‑site manufacturing environments
- Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate across functions
- Interest in manufacturing, automation, and scalable production systems
This is a Contract position based out of Westborough, MA.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $43.00 - $48.00/hr.
