Job Description

The Labeling Specialist supports the flow cell manufacturing team by creating, maintaining, and controlling product labels for sequencing consumables used in genomics and life sciences applications. This role focuses on accurate documentation, label revision control, and adherence to regulatory and quality standards within a regulated biotech manufacturing environment. The position offers direct exposure to next-generation sequencing products, quality systems, and product lifecycle processes, providing a strong foundation for future careers in quality assurance, manufacturing, or regulatory functions.

Responsibilities

• Create, review, and maintain highly accurate product labels and associated documentation for sequencing consumables.
• Format, proofread, and verify labels and documents to ensure consistency, correctness, and alignment with manufacturing outputs.
• Support label revisions and change control processes, ensuring all updates follow established procedures and approval workflows.
• Work within product lifecycle management (PLM) systems to track label updates, maintain version control, and support product lifecycle activities.
• Ensure all labeling and documentation meet applicable regulatory, quality, and compliance standards, including traceability and release readiness.
• Assist with label printing, testing, and troubleshooting using industrial printers and labeling tools.
• Collaborate closely with manufacturing, quality, and commercial teams to ensure accurate, compliant, and timely product release.
• Follow structured processes and standard operating procedures (SOPs) consistently in a regulated environment.
• Maintain organized records of label versions, approvals, and documentation to support audits and quality reviews.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of labeling workflows, documentation practices, and system usage within the manufacturing environment.

Essential Skills

• Proven ability to create, review, and maintain highly accurate product labels and documentation with strong attention to detail.
• Experience or exposure to working in a regulated environment such as GMP, GDP, or ISO settings.
• Understanding of documentation practices that support product traceability, compliance, and release readiness.
• Comfort working with technical systems and software, including product lifecycle management (PLM) tools such as Arena or Teamcenter.
• Proficiency with Excel for data tracking, documentation, and basic analysis.
• Experience or familiarity with labeling software and tools such as BarTender and Zebra printers.
• Strong organizational and time management skills to manage multiple label versions, updates, and documentation tasks.
• Ability to follow structured processes and SOPs consistently in a process-driven environment.
• Effective communication skills for working in cross-functional environments with manufacturing, quality, and operations teams.
• Willingness to learn and operate in a fast-paced manufacturing setting.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree, preferably in life sciences, biology, chemistry, or a related field.
• Exposure to quality assurance, documentation control, or product lifecycle processes in a biotech or manufacturing context.
• Interest in developing a career path in quality assurance, manufacturing, or regulatory affairs.
• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within cross-functional teams.
• Comfort balancing desk-based documentation work with light hands-on production support.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of San Diego, CA.

The pay range for this position is $24.00 - $25.00/hr.

This is a fully onsite position in San Diego,CA.
