Entry Level* Distribution Designer

This position is an integral part of our Power Distribution Engineering team within the rapidly expanding Power Sector. The role requires a keen understanding of design practices and the ability to contribute to the development of power distribution projects.

• Perform detailed design work, including the preparation of drawings, specifications, and estimates for review and approval by the responsible engineer.
• Provide limited direction to Designers and Technicians on assigned projects and may act as a design leader on projects of minor complexity.
• Maintain a thorough knowledge of technical matters in areas such as Electrical Engineering, Instrumentation and Control, Protective Relaying, Transmission Design, Substation Design, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Distribution Engineering, Surveying, GIS and Mapping, and CADD.
• Prepare manual or computer-assisted design and construction drawings of a complex nature with neatness and minimal errors.
• Perform design services requiring a full understanding of drawings, specifications, and industry and company standards.
• Take a significant role in the preparation of cost estimates, specifications, evaluations, and requisitions.
• Assist in the preparation of engineering calculations.
• Coordinate equipment deliveries and design development to meet project schedules.
• Acquire on-site field data to accomplish the design or to monitor and evaluate equipment performance.
• May serve as a Project Coordinator on certain projects.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

• Proficiency in power distribution and distribution design.
• Degree in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology from an accredited college or university.
• Demonstrated ability and/or experience with GIS systems, preferably Smallworld or GWD, and CADD systems such as AutoCAD.
• Experience working in both field and office environments.
• Utility distribution design experience with a utility or consulting engineering firm is preferred.
• Ability to handle contacts with clients and other agencies in connection with project design responsibilities.
• Ability to follow prescribed standards and procedures.
• Demonstrated leadership and technical capability to perform job responsibilities.
• Must have a clear and valid driver's license and be at least 21 years of age to drive on company time, including personal and company vehicles.

• Management may consider other education and work experience to be acceptable for appointment to this position.

The work environment includes both field and office settings, requiring adaptability to various conditions. Technologies used include GIS systems and CADD software. The role involves interaction with clients and other agencies, necessitating excellent communication and coordination skills.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Charlotte, NC.

The pay range for this position is $23.00 - $27.00/hr.

This is a fully onsite position in Charlotte,NC.
