Data Center Energy Marshal

The Data Center Energy Marshal is a quality assurance and supervisory role dedicated to ensuring that vendors and contractors adhere to energy isolation and electrical safety programs in line with established safety policies. This position plays a critical role in implementing learnings, providing consistency, and ensuring compliance with energy isolation and electrical safety standards at data center construction campuses.

Responsibilities

• Oversee and assure compliance with the Energy Isolation Program Management on a data center construction campus.
• Promote a culture of safety, collaboration, and leadership to support the successful turnover to operations.
• Provide full-time onsite presence, including attendance at daily stretch/flex and Daily Activity Briefs.
• Support the DCD Project Manager by participating in monthly performance reports, incident response, and weekly safety meetings.
• Monitor and manage General Contractor adherence to health and safety standards.
• Serve as an independent authority for halting unsafe work practices.
• Collaborate with safety representatives to ensure compliance with electrical safety regulations.
• Review and understand project schedules, monitor technical design issues, and assess time/scope impacts.
• Participate in the identification and execution of critical path recovery and schedule adjustments.
• Utilize SPS-101 Energy Isolation and SPS-102 Electrical Safety guides as foundational references.
• Establish and manage an Energy Isolation assurance process and close any identified gaps.
• Work with the Authorizing Energy Marshal to establish an Energy Isolation Permit process.
• Act as a subject matter expert in Energy Isolation incident investigations.
• Review and provide input on quality and scope controls for MEP trades.
• Ensure the process for verifying qualifications, training, and PPE for personnel is established.

• Experience in data center construction and commissioning standards and practices.
• Proven ability to interact with teams and implement improvements.
• Effective communication of complex technical solutions to both engineers and non-engineers.
• Ability to audit and promote safe site practices against written standards.
• Knowledge of construction techniques, terminology, and documentation.
• Familiarity with multiple sources of energy and equipment in data centers, especially electrical.
• OSHA 30 Hour Training.
• NFPA 70e or NFPA CESCP Certification.

• Ability to interpret line drawings and system redundancies.
• Experience with power distribution, mechanical cooling, hydraulic, pneumatic, lighting, and other systems.
• Experience with paralleling switchgear, redundant UPS systems, DC battery strings, and standby diesel generators.

This role requires 100% onsite presence with a typical work schedule of approximately 40 hours per week, starting at 7 am. The project is ground-up construction and involves daily coordination and task management onsite.

This is a Contract position based out of Atlanta, GA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $72.00 - $82.00/hr.
